Opportunity for an Experienced Flight Instructor

Job Description

Vermont Flight Academy is looking for a highly motivated CFI, CFII, and MEI for our program in Burlington, VT. Qualified Instructor will provide flight, simulator, and ground instruction under both Part 61 and 141. Candidate are responsible for student’s flights and records as well as ensure that each lesson meets course standards, objectives and requirements.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform flight instructor duties authorized by the Federal Aviation Regulations in accordance with the approved TCOs
  • Ensure all students understand and practice all aspects of Vermont Flight Academy Aviation’s Safety Practices
  • Regularly schedule each assigned student to ensure satisfactory progress through the course and immediately inform Chief Flight Instructor of any delays in training or satisfactory progress
  • Responsible for accurately maintaining all appropriate records including, student, logbooks and computers
  • Ensure that all assigned students as stipulated in the applicable TCO meet course standards, training requirements, and objectives
  • Initiate stage check requests for assigned students
  • Responsible for the timely course completion of all flight students assigned, including completion of required paperwork
  • Contact and meet with potential new students. Conduct tours of facilities and familiarize customers with Vermont Flight Academy’s policies, procedures, and flight training courses

Requirements: Minimum Requirements

  • Commercial Pilot Certificate Single Engine Land
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument
  • Must hold a current FAA Class I, or Class II Medical Certificate
  • Meet Vermont Flight Academy Aviation’s drug and alcohol policies and testing
  • Aircraft piloting skills, including familiarity with and ability to perform required flight maneuvers and procedures
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply effective instructional technique in the classroom and in flight
  • Knowledge of appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations and related administrative and operational procedures and requirements
  • Ability to work well under pressure in fast-paced environment while exercising sound judgment at all times

  • Perform Flight Instruction as directed and maintain a 80% pass rate for final review and stage checks

Requirements: Preferred Qualifications

  • Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) and Sea Plane Instructor Ratings (SEI)
  • Management experience desirable
