Recurrent Training:
Flight Reviews and Instrument Proficiency Checks
§61.56 Flight Review
aka "Biennial Flight Reviews (BFRs)
A Biennial Flight Review, or BFR, is a requirement for all certificated pilots every 24 calendar months in the United States to maintain their flying privileges. At Vermont Flight Academy, our BFR program is designed to assess your knowledge, skills, and proficiency as a pilot, ensuring that you remain safe and proficient in the air.
During your BFR, one of our experienced flight instructors will work with you to review essential flight maneuvers, emergency procedures, regulations, and other critical aspects of piloting. Through a combination of ground instruction and flight training, we’ll tailor the review to address your specific needs and areas for improvement.
Whether you’re a seasoned pilot looking to refresh your skills or a newly certificated aviator preparing for your first BFR, our comprehensive BFR program will provide you with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the skies safely and effectively.
§61.57 Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC)
Critical instrument safety training.
For pilots who hold an Instrument Rating, maintaining proficiency in instrument flying is crucial for safe and effective operations in various weather conditions. Our Instrument Proficiency Checks (IPCs) are designed to ensure that instrument-rated pilots remain proficient in the use of their instrument skills and procedures.
During your IPC at Vermont Flight Academy, our experienced instructors will assess your instrument flying abilities through a combination of ground training and flight simulation exercises. We’ll review instrument approaches, navigation procedures, emergency scenarios, and other key skills to ensure that you’re prepared to handle challenging flying conditions with confidence.
Whether you’re due for your biennial flight review or seeking to renew your instrument currency, Vermont Flight Academy offers comprehensive recurrent training programs to meet your needs. Our commitment to excellence in training and safety ensures that you’ll receive the highest quality instruction and support as you continue your journey as a pilot.
Please note: TSA does not require non-U.S. citizens who hold an FAA pilot certificate to go through FTSP to complete recurrent training such as a Flight Review or Instrument Proficiency Check.
