The Intrepid Cessna 172

Often cited as the most popular training aircraft in the world, the Cessna 172’s longevity is a credit to its easy-to-learn handling characteristics, ideal training speed and great-for-learning fuel economy.

Vermont Flight Academy relies exclusively on the Cessna 172 for primary and instrument flight training for many reasons, but we’re confident you’ll enjoy the plane as much as we do.

Tailwheel Endorsements

Tailwheel, or “conventional” aircraft differ in several ways from tricycle-gear aircraft. Because the center of gravity is located aft of the main gear, ground roll tendencies of these aircraft are inherently less stable. For this reason, training and a special endorsement are required to act as the sole PIC of these aircraft. Vermont Flight Academy’s Citabria is a great option for tailwheel training and for learning aerobatics!

Multi-Engine Madness

Pilots will often tell you that learning to fly a multi-engine aircraft means learning to fly an aircraft with two engines using only one—and they’re not wrong.
The major learning curve when it comes to adding an engine is the “what if” factor related to losing an engine.

Our multi-engine program will prepare you to fly a multi-engine aircraft on only one engine.
